If you’re a QC scientist who knows your tissue and your stains, but you’re one of several people signing off results and none of the decisions feel truly yours, then this next step could be for you.
My client is a specialist diagnostics business in the North East and they are looking to hire a QC to lead this section of the business. That means, every batch that leaves the building comes past you.
You’ll look at it under the microscope, compare it with the spec and make the call on whether it’s released. When something isn’t right, you raise it, investigate it and see it through. When a customer has a problem with a product, you lead the technical side, and now and then you’ll visit their lab to help them fix it in person.
You’ll also get a project of your own. They want better insight into why QC results fail, and you’ll be the one to build it. That work shapes how quality is measured next year.
There’s no QC team around you, so you need to already be doing this job, not learning it.
What they need to see:
Current QC experience in a regulated lab
Hands on immunohistochemistry, with strong tissue recognition
Practical histology and microtomy, ideally a couple of years or more
Knowledge of staining platforms
The right to work in the UK, and living within reach of Newcastle
ISO 13485, complaints, CAPA or IVD experience is a bonus.
NHS biomedical scientists with a quality focus are welcome to apply too.
Apply with an up to date CV, or drop me a message to talk it through first.
